Fire Group's technological engine

The Group's Strategic Plan for 2023-2025 features a strong technological focus, a stronghold for development that has always marked the company's history and that will be a strategic driver of the company's evolution with a substantial investment plan in digitalization and business innovation.

Fire Group SpA, the holding company of the Fire Group, provides strategic support services such as HR, Audit, Finance, Administration & Control, ICT and Innovation & Digital Transformation to its subsidiaries as well as directly to the customers of the subsidiaries.

Three growth drivers of the plan being:

 

  • Digital evolution;
  • Integration of sustainability into the operating model;
  • Long-term strategic partnerships.

Within this context, the ICT Department is the technology engine that not only supports and protects the growth of the Fire Group's Businesses but also acts as a Service & Innovation Hub for external customers.

Organization

Since 1992, the Group has chosen to have an internal structure, with a dedicated team, comparable in complexity and completeness to a software house, for the possibility of developing in-house know-how that can be capitalized over time and on different projects, with greater autonomy and product knowledge, shorter delivery, maintenance, support and bug fixing times, faster communication flow and coordination, benefiting from external partnerships in selected cases. The final service provided to the customer, both internal and external, is thus more efficient, tailored, integrated and integrable with other systems, and more flexible.

Composition

The ICT structure currently consists of about 30 people, divided into the following specialized units:

  • Application Change that oversees software evolution projects and integration with customer software, through in-house or partnership development.
     
  • Application RUN that oversees software maintenance and small evolutionary activities through internal development, the activities of analysis and implementation of ETL modules while supporting the Import/Export of data from/to systems of Group customers, whilst coordinating the development of automation through RPA techniques carried out in partnership with specialized companies.
     
  • Artificial Intelligence that deals with the development of machine learning supporting the core business, as well as performing technical oversight on research projects involving AI. 
     
  • Infrastructure & Security which oversees the maintenance of servers, connectivity systems, workstations and virtual machines, manages information security including cybersecurity with related training of internal staff and oversees the architectural part of software, carries out an internal first-level help desk service for the use of systems and applications, manages all system integration activities with customers' systems.
     
  • Research & Development, Process Management that deals with research projects with the Group's partner universities, process analysis with Lean Thinking methodology, procedures and fulfillments related to management systems.

Experience

  • The people who currently form our ICT Department have an average corporate seniority of 11 years, a high level in comparison to market peers. Our ICT people work mainly remotely, and meet periodically at our offices in Milan, Rome, Messina, Palermo and Catania, to create and maintain relations and for team building activities.
     
  • The Group constantly invests in the training of ICT staff and offers continuous refresher courses and 1-to-1 English language courses in remote mode at flexible hours.

  • Credit collection;

 

  • Innovative digital payment systems;

 

  • Big data exchange;

 

  • Decision and document engines or product-specific products;

 

  • AML to prevent financial crimes;

 

  • Centralized administration of application access;

 

  • Message-broker for managing large request flows.
